Building a local campaign against academies

Don't let academies replace our schools!  Find out why.  We want a good local school for every child, not academies controlled by a sponsor's puppet governers.

see text Our open meeting in December initiated the Stoke Against Academies campaign group.
If you agree strongly with this campaign, you can e-mail for further information from schoolscampaign at nstuc.org.uk

A big thankyou to everyone who supported the Remploy Workers Campaign to save the jobs of thousands of disabled people, including those at the Remploy factory in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Though the Newcastle-under-Lyme factory is closing, its bookbinding work will be transfered to the Trentham Lakes site, with many jobs saved.

The campaign continues as the remaining sites will be reviewed over the next five years. Click here for national information about ways to help.
Trade union members: keep up with local campaigns by mailing us at enquiry@nstuc.org.uk and asking to join our e-mail list.

North Staffs Trades Union Council is the first point of reference for collective organised labour in North Staffordshire. This includes Leek, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent. We are made up from local trades union branches, who pay an affiliation fee to us.

We receive reports of industrial disputes and consider any help we might give.

We campaign for the improvement of working, economic and social conditions for all people in our area.

We hold educational and social meetings for local trades union members.
